John E. Cocca, Sr.

July 28, 1951 — June 10, 2014

COLONIE – John E. Cocca, Sr., 62, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at his home. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Theresa A. Cocca and John G. Cocca.

John was a resident of Albany for 20 years. He graduated from Troy High School and Siena College. John retired from the Albany County Health Department where he worked for over 25 years. He loved to play softball and enjoyed fishing, vacationing with his family, cooking and helping raise his granddaughter Taylynn.

John will be missed by his beloved family and wife of 17 years, Suzanne; children John Jr. (Jess), Thomas (Laura), Jeffrey, Samantha (Anthony), Matthew and Danielle; sister Carolyn (Michael) Breen; brother Robert G. Cocca; 4 grandchildren; nephew Michael (Amanda Mahoney) Breen; relatives and close friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 3:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 12:00 to 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Northeast Kidney Foundation, 99 Troy Road, Suite 200, East Greenbush, NY 12061 in John's name.
