ALBANY – John E. Conway, 68, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Castlebar, Co Mayo, Ireland, he was the son of the late Margaret O'Donnell and Thomas Conway.
John was a resident of Albany for over 40 years. He retired from the Watervliet Arsenal after 20 years of service. John was a volunteer for the Salvation Army and senior services. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, the Saratoga Race Course, and watching soccer and other sports on the TV.
Along with his parents, John was predeceased by his brothers, Tommy, Arthur and Don Conway.
He will be missed by his wife of 37 years, Roz (Hohenstein); siblings Beatrice Keville (Pat) of Shannon, Ireland, George Conway of California, and Pearse (Kathleen) Conway of Castlebar, Ireland, and many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Memorial calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army, 452 Clinton Avenue, Albany, NY 12206 or Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 S. Pearl St., Albany, NY 12202 in John's name.
