John E. Ikenhoffer

January 25, 1947 — June 17, 2012

ALBANY – John E. "Jack" Ikenhoffer, 65, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany, he was the son of the l ate John and Edna Ikenhoffer. Jack lived in Albany for all of his life. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving aboard the USS Independence. Jack was a New York State Corporation Tax Auditor with the Dept. of Taxation & Finance for nearly forty years until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time at the Saratoga Race Track.

Jack is the beloved husband of 45 years to Susan Ikenhoffer. He is the devoted father of Beth Marie I. Schumaker. Jack is the loving brother of Nancy Hotaling of Pallenville, NY and the late Thomas Ikenhoffer. He is the proud Papa of Jacob and Emily Hope Schumaker. Jack is the brother-in-law of Betsy (George) Abraham and the uncle of Marie and Jeffrey Abraham.


Funeral services will be Friday morning at 9:15 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Pius X Church at 10:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass at 1:30 p.m. in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1 Marcus Blvd., Suite 203, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of John E. Ikenhoffer.
