Albany- John J. Endres, 88, passed away peacefully at the V.A. on July 16, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany's South End, he was the son of the late John P. and Regina M. (Ogrodowicz) Endres.
John served his country as a United States Marine which he was proud to be.
John retired in 1995 from Span Creek in Ravena after 26 years of service.
John was an avid bowler starting from his days as a pin setter in his youth until he retired. He was a member of Zaloga Post American Legion 1520 and the Moose Lodge.
John enjoyed sitting in his backyard feeding all of the wildlife.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa (Mannarino) whom he married on May 3, 1953; his son, John J. (Janet) Endres of Guilderland; his daughters, Donna (Steve) Markiewicz of Guilderland, Pat (Ed) Crotty of Guilderland; and his grandchildren, Kevin Ryan, Michael Ryan, Jamie (Josh) Davenport, Jessica (Clinton) Smith; and great-granddaughter, Victoria Davenport. John is also survived by his siblings, Frank Endres of Colonie, Regina (Ralph) Schauer, and Rose (Bill) Leonard both of San Diego, CA; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses of the Spine Unit at Albany Medical Center and The Comfort Care Staff, nurses, and doctors at the V.A. Medical Center in Albany.
Calling hours will be held from 4pm-6:30pm on Friday, July 21, 2017 at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. A Funeral Service will be held at 9am on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
