COLONIE – John E. Epting, Sr., 90, of Colonie, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at St. Peter's Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Schenectady and was a Capital District resident for all of his life. Mr. Epting worked for McNearney Beer Distributors for twenty years and then as Chief Security Officer for Stuyvesant Plaza for twenty-five years before retiring. Upon his retirement, he worked as a security officer for Colonie Town Court. He was a life member of the Eagle Lodge in Schenectady, a life member of Colonie Village Fire Dept. and the founding member of their Fire Police, a life member of the West Albany Rod and Gun Club and a member of the H.B. Kuhn Senior Citizens. Mr. Epting was an avid golfer and hunter. John is the beloved husband of 62 years to Veronica A. Epting. He is the devoted father of John E. (Diane) Epting, Jr., David A. (Rena) Epting and the late Sharon Epting. He is the cherished grandfather of Terri (Steve) Miller, Michelle (Jay) Collins, Paul (Maggie) Epting, Michael (Erin) Epting and Danielle Epting. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Ashley and Jordan Miller.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 10:00 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie.
