John F. Clancy Iii
August 12, 1924 — November 19, 2013
COLONIE - John F. Clancy III, 89, entered peacefully into eternal rest on November 19, 2013 with his loving family by his side. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Alline (Pelote) Clancy and John F. Clancy Jr.. John was the devoted husband of the late Margaret L. Clancy for nearly 65 years. John served proudly in the US Army 79th Infantry Division, 304th Medical Battalion during WWII. He was a participant in the D-Day invasion and among the numerous medals and citations he was awarded the Bronze Star. Following the war John worked for GE, Schenectady for over 40 years.
John is survived by his four children, John (Andrea) Clancy of W. Bayshore, Karen (Berry) Blot of Colonie, David (Maura) Clancy of Guilderland, and Robert (Lauren) Clancy of North Greenbush; 8 grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Adam, and David Blot, Molly, Patrick, Caitlin and Sean Clancy; 5 great grandchildren, Aidan, Dylan, Mason, Benjamin, Rylee, and great granddaughter due in Jan. 2014. He was the brother of Margaret Teeling of Maricopa, AZ, James Clancy of Troy, NY, and the late Edna Clemens and William Clancy. He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Cheryl Lynn.
John enjoyed hunting, fishing, trips to the Racino, playing BINGO with the other residents, and spending the winter months in Florida. Along with his wife he loved to travel having traveled to Europe, South America, Greece and Hawaii.
Special thanks to the wonderful 5-B wing staff and caregivers of The Teresian House. His family will be forever grateful.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Infant of Prague Chapel at Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave Ext, Albany. Interment will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Monday, November 25, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions be made to Teresian House, 200 Washington Avenue Extension Albany, New York 12203.
