LATHAM – It is with great sadness that the family of John "Jack" F. Kennedy, 50, announces his passing on July 14, 2011. He passed after a long and courageous battle with cancer at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
John was born November 25, 1960 in Albany and is the beloved son of Rosemary Kennedy and the late Frank Kennedy. He was a 1978 graduate of Colonie Central High School. John, along with brother Roy, had operated the former Delicatessen and the Icehouse Restaurant on Everett Rd. He was later employed for twenty years with Amtrak where he retired as a locomotive engineer. John was a talented landscaper and took great pride in his home and helping others beautify their property.
He is the loving husband of 24 years to Haila Kennedy. John is the loving father of John and Alexander Kennedy. He is the devoted brother of Royal (Amy) Kennedy. He is also survived by many brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews and numerous cherished friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday morning at 9:30 at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Latham. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Interment will be in Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1 Mustang Drive, Cohoes, NY 12047.
