Colonie- John F. Krug, 97, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born and raised in Colonie he was the son of the late John J. and Elizabeth (Houck) Krug. John served in the U.S. Army during WWII stationed in the Philippines. A Farmer all of his life he was the owner and operator of Krug Farms on Everett Road in Colonie for over 75 years. John was a lifelong communicant and past usher of St. Frances De Sales Church on Exchange Street in Colonie. He is predeceased by his two sisters, Anna DeLap and Caroline Morrissey, his son-in-law Jack Getgen and his daughter-in-law Beverley Krug.
John is survived by his beloved wife of over 75 years Alice M. (Hogan) Krug; his six children, Jean Getgen, William Krug, Joyce Hunter and her husband Donald, Kathryn Otty and her husband Laurence, Lawrence Krug and his wife Mary and Laurel Russell and her husband Michael. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Frances De Sales Church, Exchange Street, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice, in memory of John F. Krug. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.newcomerfamily.com.
