John F. Principe

Dr. John F. Principe, 81, passed away peacefully with his loving wife of 55 years, Doris and family by his side after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 30, 1928 to John and Elvira Principe. He graduated from Brooklyn College and was awarded his DDS degree in 1953 from NYU. John served in the Air Force as a Captain from 1953-1955 where he met his lovely bride. John was well known in Schenectady, he was on the School Board for in the 1960's and 70's, was one of the co-founders of Better Neighborhoods, Inc., and volunteered his skill as a dentist to those less fortunate. John had his private practice in Sch'dy for many years prior to starting the dental department at CHP and Carver Community Center. John and his wife enjoyed spending time in Arizona where they had a group of wonderful and caring friends. He loved golfing with his buddies, entertaining friends and family with great food and love, debating politics and playing bocce.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by seven children, Lynn (Mike) Venditti of Voorheesville, Randy (MaryBeth) Principe of Rowlette, TX, Russ Principe of Esperance, Ron Principe of Centereach, NY, Laura Principe of Charlton, Jan Principe of Scotia and Joan Principe of Scotia and two honorary children, Maria Principe and Maggie Jones. John is also survived by five grandchildren who loved their Grandpa. He is survived by five sisters and was predeceased by two brothers and one sister. Left to fondly remember John are many long time friends that John considered to be family.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 6 PM on Monday at Newcomer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 4-6 at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-1942 in John's honor.
