ALBANY – John Filkins, 45, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany, he was the son of Joseph Filkins and Geraldine Gardy.
He is survived by his brothers, Joseph (Diane) and Marty (Heide Wunsch) Filkins; stepfather John Gardy; stepmother Estelle Filkins; step-siblings Michael and John (Faith) Gardy, Jr., Debbie (Sylvester) Criscione, and Michelle (Ray) Hebert. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
