ALBANY - John J. Fleming Sr., 75, of Albany passed away peacefully Thursday, September 19, 2019
at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
John was born in Albany on October 2, 1943 a son to William and Helen (Cramer) Fleming.
Educated in Rensselaer schools and graduated from Rensselaer High School.
He was employed for many years as the Mail Room Supervisor for the New York State Dept. of Tax and Finance in Albany before he retired.
In his earlier years, John was a keen hunter and fisherman.
John was a longtime parishioner along with his wife Marie (Yvonne) at Blessed Sacrament Church in Albany. He was a longstanding member of the Guilderland Elks Lodge #2480.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Minnesota Vikings. He also loved spending time at the Saratoga Race Course backstretch.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie (Yvonne) Fleming; his son, John Jr., both of Albany; his daughter, Colleen Williams (Thomas) of Colonie; 2 grandchildren, Skyllar and Kamron both of Albany; his brother, William Fleming of Defreestville and a nephew, William of Rotterdam.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 609 Central Avenue, Albany. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
