Albany- John T. Flynn , 89, died peacefully Wednesday, June 9, 2021 with his loving family by his side. John was the devoted husband to Pat (Whitney) Flynn for 62 years.
Along with Pat, John is survived by his four children, Kathy Lewis (Mike), Terry Nugent (Gary), Michael Flynn (Lisa), Matt Flynn (Meredith); his grandchildren, Michael Paul, Tricia "Trishy" and Kelly Lewis, Casey Ann (Paul), Dana, and Kevin (Lisa) Nugent, Whitney, Hannah and Joseph Flynn, Jack, Benett and Cora Flynn and his great grandchildren, Jackson Nugent and Everly Nugent.
John retired from Rensselaer Department of Social Services as Chief Welfare Examiner. After retirement, he worked many years for Meals on Wheels.
If you knew John, you would know him as a devout Catholic and Red Sox fan. He taught CCD, RCIA and was a Eucharistic Minister.
He is a published author of "What's It All About", a book reflecting his life values. He was the originator of "Dad jokes". His grandchildren fondly recall his puppet acts, Christmas pageants, and visits by the "Chip Fairy".
Calling hours will be held at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd, Loudonville, NY on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius the X Church a 10:00 am. Interment will follow the service at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
