Latham- John M. Gaffers Jr. "Jack", 79, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, October 8, 2020. Born in Troy he was the son of the late Harriet and John Gaffers Sr. Jack is predeceased by his wife Sally Gaffers.
Jack worked for thirty years for Graves & Rodgers before his retirement. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 669 and an avid NASCAR fan.
Jack is survived by his children William Gaffers (Laura), Wendy Lozano (the late Gary) and Shelly Schwarz (Jim). He was the loving "Poppy" to Jonathan and Jennifer (Jack) Gaffers, Joseph (Sheena), Sarah (Mason), Ryan and Madison, Stephanie and Ryley. He will also be missed by Poppy's little lemons Amelio and Jedha.
He is also survived by his sister Linda Wertman and his niece Lisa (Eddie) and nephews Jimmy (Heather) and John.
Jack is predeceased by his brother William Gaffers.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 4pm-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. A funeral ceremony will be held on Wednesday at 11am at the funeral home with interment following at Albany Rural Cemetery.
Gathering size, within our chapels will be based on the most current NYS occupancy requirements. Masks are required, and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.
