John "Jack" D. Gorman, 84, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024.
Born in Albany, NY, Jack was the son of the late John F. and Mary Wasserbach Gorman.
Jack attended St. Anne's Academy where he became a basketball star and was later inducted into the Bishop Maginn Alumni Association Sports Hall of Fame.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Marilyn; two daughters Joann (Michael) Miller, and Shannon (Jason) Manning, both of Schodack; two amazing athletic grandchildren, Samantha and Zachary Manning; his sister-in-law Elizabeth Gorman; and many nieces and nephews.
Jack was employed by NYS for many years before retiring at the age of 55. He loved partaking in a beer or two, betting on horses, even teaching his granddaughter Samantha about the horses at a young age. He loved playing cards at 7 am on Sunday mornings with his dear friends, Richie, Billy, Pete, Nick, Jerry and Jim. He loved traveling to Las Vegas, the NY Giants and Yankees, and was a master at puzzles. Jack was known to provide his opinion on many topics even when it wasn't solicited.
In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his brother and golfing partner Edward F. Gorman.
Memorial Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm, with a Memorial Service to begin 6:30 pm, at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205.
