COLONIE – John W. Gulliver Jr., 82, of Colonie, passed away on Wednesday July 27, 2005 at his residence after a long illness. He was born in Grass Flat, PA and was the son of the late John W. and Lona Bell Johnson Gulliver.
John was a WWII Army veteran. He was a resident of Colonie for over fifty years. John worked as a welder and sheet metal worker for General Electric Company in Schenectady for 32 years, retiring several years ago. He enjoyed his quiet times at home and gardening.
John was predeceased by his son, John Gulliver, USMC, who died in Vietnam. John is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Florence M. Gulliver; his children, Diane Gulliver and David Gulliver both of Colonie. He is the brother of Eugene Gulliver and the late Mona O'Shea and Gerald Gulliver. He is also survived by his sister in law Mary Robertson, a cousin, Nancy Shade and his dear friends Dolores and Dominic LeMorta.
Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 2:15 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will begin at 1:30 on Friday afternoon at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorys Garden. At the request of the family and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd. Loudonville, NY 12211.
