SCHENECTADY – John H. "Bud" Lysiak, Sr., 75, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Leon and Sophie (Szperkski) Lysiak.
John was founder and President of John's Dairy Inc, a wholesale milk distributor in Albany. He was active in the community and a lifetime member of the Rotterdam Elks. John loved spending time with his grandkids and traveling and enjoying life. Whether he was on a beach in Bermuda or a Casino in Connecticut – he always brought joy and a smile to all around him.
Along with his parents, John was predeceased by his first wife, Janice (Doyle) Lysiak; son John H. Lysiak, Jr.; brother Leon Lysiak, and sister Emily (Lysiak) Lynch.
He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Geraldine(Loomis) Lysiak; children Susan (Lysiak) Riccio and husband Donald, Steven Lysiak, Jeffrey Lysiak and wife Jody, Barbara(Gould) Harding, Richard Gould and wife Kerry, Nicole (Gould) Peters and husband Mark; brother Edward Lysiak; sister Irene (Lysiak) Bonacker; daughter-in-law Donna (Kretzler) Lysiak; 16 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and life long friend Donald Hirst.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gasson of the St. Peter's Hospital Radiation Oncology Associates and Dr. Fusella for their personal care. A special thank you also goes to Community Hospice of Schenectady.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 in John's name.
