John G. Haynes-
Jack left this earth on April 15, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on September 23, 1953 in Medford, MA to Dorothea (Jean) Casello and Jack Haynes. Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army serving in Germany and was honorably discharged in the spring of 1975. He then attended trade school learning the art of internet technology before it was mainstream. After graduating, Jack worked at Data General outside of Boston, MA as a computer technician starting in the late 1970's and then later as an electrician at CSX in Selkirk, NY until his retirement in 2007.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his step-father, Martin J. Hagerty Sr., two sisters, Deborah Haynes and Darlene Mosher, and his brother, Stephen Haynes. He is survived by his wife, Avis Haynes of Colonie, NY, his sons: Ethan Haynes of Schenectady, NY and Thomas (Melissa) Haynes of Simpsonville, SC, and his daughters: Samantha (Jerr) DeBarr of Colonie, NY and Katherine (Timothy) Holmes of Corinth, NY. Other surviving family members include his brother, Martin J. Hagerty Jr. of MA; his sister, Denise Ahamadjan of FL; a very special nephew, Joseph Menendez of Greer, SC; his Aunt Anne (Lou) of FL; and his best friend, Stanley Smith (Smitty) of Schenectady, NY. But the joys of his life were his grandchildren: Ava, Olivia, Jaxson and Max DeBarr, Reese Haynes, Lucy and Greta Berrigan, and Ava, Olivia and Emily Holmes.
Jack was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and passed his love for the game, and his team, on to his children. He was an avid fisherman and loved to spend time at his camp with his friends and family. Although a stroke left him partially blind later in life, it did not slow him down much. He continued to work odd jobs and fixer-uppers with his sidekick, Smitty, and together they managed to (mostly) keep each other out of trouble. Near the end of his life, he cherished
every moment he spent with his children and grandchildren, giving them all precious memories to hold dear for the remainder of their lifetimes.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice for giving them the opportunity to care for Jack at home, to pass peacefully with his family. Those last few days brought his loved ones comfort as they were able to have a few private moments with him, before he departed for his greatest adventure yet.
