John Houck, Sr.

Altamont – John E. Houck Sr., 80, passed away Monday December 30, 2013 surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. Born in Albany, he is the son of the late John and Elizabeth Houck. John was predeceased by his beloved wife Diane Houck in 2002.

John was employed by Tobin Packing Co. as a salesman for 25 years.
John is survived by his 12 children; John (Carolyn) Houck, Robert (Emily) Houck, Dale (Deborah) Houck, Katherine Houck, Linda (John) Dunn, Scott (Beth) Houck, Mark (Christine) Houck, Michael (Wendy) Houck, Heidi (John) Gonyea, Jeffrey (Joanne) Houck, Amy (Christopher) Thompson, Rebecca VanAlstyne, and the late Susan Houck. He is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and sister Alice (Bud) Krug. John was also predeceased by his sister Ruth Jackson.

Memorial Contributions may be made in John's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN 38105.
A Mass of Christian burial for John will celebrated at the Church of St. Lucy / St. Bernadette, in Altamont on Tuesday January 7th at 10:00 a.m. Calling hours will be held Monday January 6th from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Interment will be at Memory Gardens.
