John J. Cassaro

CLIFTON PARK- John J. Cassaro, 87, of Clifton Park, passed away on Wednesday April 22, 2009 at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Santo and Josephine Cassaro.
John and his brother had owned Pete's Gondola Pizzeria on Central Ave in Albany for many years. John was a longtime taxi cab driver and more recently worked as a clerk with NYS Dept. of Tax & Finance. He enjoyed bowling, dancing and the Saratoga race track. He was predeceased in 1996 by his son, Sam Cassaro.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Barbara Cassaro. He is the father of John J. (Sheri) Cassaro Jr., Jobi (Mark) Guistwite, Kathy (Charles) Bombard and Trudy Cassaro (Philip) Pettinato. He is the brother of Mary (Frank) Aquino, Angie (Tony) DiBacco, Amy Cassaro and the late Peter Cassaro. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 11:00 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
