John J. Grogan Jr.

ALBANY- John J. Grogan Jr., 81 of Albany, died on Saturday December 19, 2009. He was born and educated in Albany and was the son of the late John J. Grogan Sr. and Kathryn Lindheimer.
John was a 1945 graduate of CBA. He served in the Pacific Theatre with the US Navy during WWII. John worked for Ashland Chemical in Rensselaer for 38 years and at the Albany County Jail for ten years before retiring. He was Past Exalted Ruler of the Rensselaer Lodge of Elks #2073 and a member of the Purchasing Agents Association, the Traffic Club and Knights of Columbus #173. John was very active with National Little League and Central Babe Ruth. He was an avid New York Yankees fan.

John is the beloved husband of over 60 years to Paula Jorgensen Grogan. He is the beloved father of Karen M. Cole (Rocco) and John J. Grogan III (Sandra). He is the cherished grandfather of Jessica J and John J. Grogan IV. John is the brother of Rita Schneider (Charles) and the late Carol Clancy (William) and Regina Grogan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 8:45 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie then to Mater Christi Parish (formerly St. Catherine of Siena Church) at 9:30 where the Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Health Care Center, 125 Rockefeller Rd. Delmar, NY 12054 in memory of John J.
