COLONIE – John J. Hutson, 83, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Teresian House.
John was born on October 22, 1926 in Albany and was the son of the late Arthur B. and Catherine (Carey) Hutson. He was a 1945 graduate of CBA and was a military policeman in the US Army from 1945 to 1947, serving overseas in Germany. He worked as a systems analyst for Matthew Bender Law Publishers in Albany for 22 years, retiring in 1989; prior to that he worked for General Mutual and the NYS Department of Tax and Finance.
John was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and loved baseball. He was inducted in the CBA Hall of Fame and the Twilight League Hall of Fame. He enjoyed being with his friends at The Orchard Tavern and watching his grandson, Trevor, playing baseball.
John is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Janet A. (Goelz) Hutson; his loving daughters, Christine M. (Philip) Taranto of Colonie and Diane "Dee" Hutson of Albany; his loving grandson, Trevor J. Taranto of Colonie; his brother, Arthur (Audrey) Hutson of Guilderland; his sister, Barbara Novko of Oneonta; and several nieces and nephews.
A thank you to the nurses and staff at the Teresian House, especially the 2A Wing, for their care, comfort and support given to John and his family, during the past month.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd., Loudonville. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
