Rensselaer- John J. (Jake) Waldron, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital after long illness.
Jake was born on the Lake Champlain island of Grand Isle, Vermont, home to his maternal ancestry. He spent many carefree years as a boy visiting his loving grandparents there. He grew up in Colonie and graduated from Roesselville. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Leila Rubyor Waldron and John Waldron, and a sister, Mary Waldron Ogden.
Jake served in the Air Force as a flight mechanic and cherished the memories of military discipline, travel, and youthful exploration. He had great stories to tell. On his return, he worked for many years for Colonial Plumbing and Heating. He later worked for, and retired from, the Town of Colonie.
Jake was a great "Jack of all trades" guy who would take on most any task. His practical and creative solutions were always well done and occasionally humorous.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sandra Coote Waldron, his children Alyssa Waldron and Jacob Waldron of Rensselaer, and from his earlier marriage, Peter Waldron, John Waldron, and Laurie Waldron of New Jersey. He is also survived by his sister Leila Boyle Yandon (Troy), his aunt, Edna Rubyor Parrott (Florida), and many nieces and nephews.
Jake also leaves behind his great good friends at the "Round Table" of the Fuller Road Firehouse. A social member since 1969, he cherished the comradery.
A celebration of Jake's life, with family and friends, will be held at a later date.
