ALBANY - Lifelong Albany resident, John J. Lynch passed away Saturday, February 3, 2007 at Albany County Nursing home.
John was the son of the late John J. Lynch and Margaret J. Keirns. He is predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Mary J. Bulger and his sister, Helen J. Ford. A veteran of the Battle of the Bulge during World War II, John served in the Army and received a WWII Victory Medal.
Surviving John are his four children, John T. Lynch of Statesville, NC, Margaret M. Garrett (John) of Albany, Kevin R. Lynch and his partner Rodney H. Sloat of Cambridge, MA, and Theresa J. Thurin (Tim) of Omaha, NE. He was loving grandfather to Tom, Eric and Allyson Lynch, Jack and Caitlin Garrett, and Aidan and Emma Thurin; as well as cherished great-grandfather of Connor, Karina and Kadin Lynch.
The family would like to thank the staff Ann Lee Home and particularly the staff of 3 HR at Albany County Nursing Home for their years of dedicated and compassionate care of "Papa John." Thanks also to the members of Community Hospice for their guidance and encouragement.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 8th at 9:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Pius X Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Calling hours will be held at on Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Internment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
