MALTA – John J. Murphy, Jr.,77, of Malta, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in East Greenbush, he was the son of the late John J. Murphy, Sr. and Madeline Murphy. Mr. Murphy was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country from 1952 through 1954. John was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church, a member of Upstate New York Bakery and Milk Drivers and the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, traveling and bowling. John is the beloved husband of Barbara Murphy of Malta. He is the devoted father of James F. (Maria) Murphy of Spring, TX, Cynthia B. (Richard) Tutunjian of Mount Dora, FL, John J. Murphy, III (Tracey) of Cohoes, Richard M. (Barbara) Murphy of Washington, IL and Denise M. (Harvey) Carner of Schaghticoke. He is the loving brother of Marge Frey, Joan Murphy, Edward Murphy, Winifred Bastian, Patricia Bearder and the late Catherine Murphy and Marie Dwyer. Also surviving are twelve cherished grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two godchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, July 2nd from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 7th at 9:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, Round Lake. Interment will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 172 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
