John J. Piscopo

John J. Piscopo went to be with his Lord suddenly on Tuesday, September 10, 2013. He was born in New York City on May 22, 1921, and resided in Staten Island for 30 years. He then resided in the Newfield and Ithaca, NY area for 50 years before making his final home in Loudonville in 2005.

He joined the U.S. Navy on January 2, 1942 and served in World War II as a radar-man on the U.S.S. Lang until he was honorably discharged in October 1945. During this time, he earned eleven battle stars.
John worked in Sales and Insurance before his long time employment at Cornell University in the Chemistry Department. He was granted an honorary degree for his faithful service.

John was a member of the People's Baptist Church in Newfield for nearly 50 years. He served as usher, Sunday school teacher, and trustee. John was also a member of the Saratoga Chapel in Ballston Lake. He was an avid collector of many things.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Agnes Thomson; a daughter Lois Wells (David) of Quito, Ecuador; a grandson Benjamin Wells-Tolley (Laura) of Amherst, MA; a granddaughter Johanna Wells of Albany, NY; and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Rena Ianello, Teresa Hodnick, and Carol Loffreno.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Leslie.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am at Saratoga Chapel, 359 Eastline Road, Ballston Lake, on Saturday, September 21, 2013.
