John (Jack) Stewart

COLONIE – John J. (Jack) (Red) Stewart, 76, of Colonie passed way on Saturday March 18, 2006 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late John and Florence Moutray Stewart.
Jack had worked at W. H. Allen rug cleaners, Port of Albany and most recently with New York State Department of OGS from where he retired in 1986. He was a communicant of St. Francis DeSales Church, Colonie AARP #2873 and the St. Francis Seniors.
He is the devoted husband of forty years to Theresa A. (Terry) McCoy Stewart. He is the beloved father of Kathleen (Dennis) Jersey of North Greenbush and Kenneth J. (Sondra) Stewart of Nivervlle. He is the former husband of Rita Strokes of Kinderhook. Cherished grandfather of Samantha Stewart of Niverville. Brother of Ruth (Richard) Lyons of Guilderland and the late Florence Durso, Marian Weidman and Dorothy Hext. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 9:15 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave) then to St. Francis De Sales Church, Exchange Street at 10:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Memorial contributions may be made to Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home, 180 Washington Ave Ext. Albany NY 12203 in memory of John J. Stewart.
