John A. James

John A. James husband of Marlene Hildebrand James, passed away Thursday, June 27th at Ellis Hospital.

Born November 21 1945, in Lynn, Mass. John lived in Lynn until the 10th grade when he moved to Clearwater Florida with his father Harry James and mother Jessie James. After graduating from high school, John entered the Airforce like his older brother Charlie, and found a job that he loved. He was a K-9 handler and was shipped off to Vietnam where he toured with Duke. After his tour he had to leave his friend behind.

John met his wife Marlene while finishing up his service at Plattsburgh Air base in upstate NY. She was from Montreal and they ended up in Schenectady. After which John began his career as a phone man with New York Bell. After retiring, John enjoyed spending time woodworking and being with family.

He is survived by his wife Marlene, his sons Eric and Kyle and granddaughter Skyler.

John is predeceased by his brother Charlie James and sister Marian Howland.

Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Service taking place on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 10:30am in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Guests are asked to arrive to the cemetery by 10:15am. When you enter the cemetery gates, please join the family on the right-side/ parking area, to join the procession as we are escorted to the Pavilion space for the service.
