COLONIE – John Joseph Maloney, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at The Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital.
John was born in Port Washington, NY and was the son of the late James and Jane (Whyte) Maloney. He served in the US Air Force and was awarded American Campaign, Good Conduct and Victory medals. He retired in 1979 after working in the United States Postal Service for 42 years. John was a resident of the Town of Colonie for the past 25 years.
John is survived by Teresa, his wife of 61 years. He is also survived by his four children, James and Stella Maloney of Toronto, Canada, Dennis Maloney of Manorhaven, NY, John and Linda Maloney of Colonie, NY and Richard and Laurie Maloney of Guilderland, NY. He is the cherished grandfather to Michael, Kathleen, Kevin and Caroline.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. In lieu of customary remembers, memorial contributions may be directed to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 or to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of John Joseph Maloney.
