John L. Mahoney, 53, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away suddenly on August 25,2015 at his home.
John was born December 21st ,1961 in Troy, NY, and resided in Albany during his early years. He was a graduate of Albany Academy which he attended since kindergarten. He then attended Georgetown University, where he majored in Philosophy. After college John was employed for many years by the U.S. Federal Court in Washington, D.C. as a Deputy Court Clerk. He also worked in Seattle, WA and Austin, TX, but settled in Florida working in the hospitality industry in Palm Beach. In the summer he also worked in Cape May ,NJ as well as spending time at his family home at Saranac Inn.
John was predeceased by his father, Daniel H. Mahoney. He is survived by his mother, Joan F. Mahoney, his six siblings; Steven Mahoney (Roxanne), Deborah Mahoney, Laurie Kramer (John), Daniel G. Mahoney (Amy),Leslie Mahoney, and George Mahoney (Kathy). Also surviving are his nieces and nephews; Sean and Erin Mahoney, Kelly Kramer, Brendan Mahoney, Chloe and Daniel A. Mahoney and Sara and John Mahoney.
John loved to read, golf, and fish. He also had a great compassion for stray and abused animals. As an Uncle to his nieces and nephews, he was second to none. They will miss his visits. His passion for cooking will also be missed, especially by his brothers and sisters. His abilities in the kitchen rivaled any competent fine dining chef.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home,343 New Karner Road, Colonie, on September 18th from 4-7 p.m.
Burial services will be held privately by the family.
