John L. LaBombard, 80 of Gansevoort, NY died after a long battle with Lewy body dementia, surrounded by his family. He was born in 1943 in West Hebron, NY to the late Jeanette LaBombard. He has 5 grandchildren, Becky LaBombard (Travis Koza), Jessica LaBombard, Joshua LaBombard, Jonna Freeman and Laiken Frost. He has 3 great grandchildren Lillyanna, Remy, and Kambrie, his sister Sally (Billy Getty) of Florida, and his niece and nephews. He is also survived by his most loyal canine Riley.
He was predeceased by his grandson Caeden Frost and granddaughter Brianna Frost.
John was a man of faith and believed that love was the key to life. He was a lover of history, especially locally and would talk to anyone willing to listen about it, and even those that weren't. He took drives all around the towns to show everyone his favorite historical sites. To call him a movie buff would be a huge understatement, his favorites being John Wayne and the Western classics. His grandchildren will always remember the movie nights with Papa and the special Little Debbie and Popcorn snack box he always kept full. He was an avid sports fan and had a huge love for the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Browns, and L.A. Dodgers.
The family would like to sincerely thank all of the providers involved in his care over the years, especially Dr. Daniel Eldredge and Dr. John Pezzulo. We would also like to thank Hospice for their support.
At John's request, there will be no viewing just a private graveside memorial. In his memory we ask that in lieu of flowers you spread love and do an act of kindness or pay it forward for someone in need.
