John J. Lanahan III, 61, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 30, 2021 at St. Peter's Hospice Inn in Albany after a year-long battle with cancer.
He was born on August 21, 1959 in Albany to John Jr. and Bettina Lanahan.
John grew up in Colonie and was a skilled tradesman in the flooring industry until his retirement in 2020.
John was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Chicago Bears, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle and listening to classic hard rock music, especially his favorite, Black Sabbath. John was a kind soul and a friend to everyone. He will be sorely missed by his large family and countless friends.
John is survived by his wife, Cecile "Cece" Sorel; mother, Bettina Lanahan; sons, Shane (Rebecca) and Jake Lanahan; step-son Mark (Felisha) DiTonno and grandchildren, Nodiaus and Jaden; siblings, Timothy (Patricia) Lanahan, Michael (Nicole) Lanahan, William (Rose) Lanahan, Dennis (Shannon) Lanahan, Kerry (Todd) Hufland, and Mary Ranson; and many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his father, John J. Lanahan, Jr.
