John LaPlante, Sr., 78, passed away Wednesday March 4, 2009 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
John was born in Watervliet, NY the son of the late Leonard and Ethel (Lesson) LaPlante. John was a mill worker for over thirty years. For most of those years he worked with Iroquois Millwork who manufactured Anderson windows and doors. John enjoyed traveling, boating, camping and model cars. He was an avid vegetable gardener who loved his tomatoes and peppers.
John is survived by his wife, Loretta (Villeneuve) LaPlante, whom he married August 21, 1949, their six children: John (Audrey) LaPlante, Jr., Thomas (Dennine) LaPlante, Loretta M. (William) Parsons, James (Frances) LaPlante and William (Anne) LaPlante, 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and his sister Teresa Kane. He was predeceased by his son Fredrick LaPlate and his two brothers: Isador LaPlante and Eugene LaPlante.
The funeral service will be held Saturday 11:00am at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will precede the service from 9:00 to 11:00am Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Guilderland Center Cemetery in the spring.
