John H. Layaou Jr.

Scotia- John H. Layaou Jr., 72, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 surrounded by the love of his family.
John was born on September 5, 1944 to the late John and Lena Layaou in Albany, NY. John was a graduate of Cardinal McCloskey High School, and Russell Sage College. On September 7, 1978 John married the love of his life, Doreen. They were married for 38 years. Together they raised two children. John worked at First Trust Bank for 10 years, and went on to work for NYS Dept. of Tax and Finance. He worked there for 31 years and retired in 2003. John will be remembered for his love of golf, bowling, and going to the casinos. His passion in life was his family.
John is survived by his loving wife, Doreen, his children, John (Becky) Layaou III, Michelle (Todd) Dreaney, his grandchildren, Abigail, and Liam, his sister, Kay Rooney, and a host of friends and family.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Thursday, July 13, 2017 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph's Church, 231 2nd St., Scotia, NY 12302 on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 9:00am. Burial will be held at Park Cemetery, Scotia, NY.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John's name to the Community Hospice of Albany, 310 S. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208 or to Joan Nicole Prince Home, 22 Glenview Road, Scotia, NY 12302
