John J. Luby

West Sand Lake - John (Jack) J. Luby, 84, of West Sand Lake passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024 at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, NY.
He was born in Albany on December 15, 1939 to the late David and Loretta (O'Connor) Luby. Devoted husband of 65 years to Florence (Lockwood).
Jack joined the United State Army and the 82nd Airborne Division stationed in Ft Bragg, NC. He returned to Albany and joined the City of Albany Fire Dept. (CAFD) in 1961. His last assignment was lieutenant of Fire at Old Engine 10 and retired in 1986 with 25 years of service.
Jack enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping, fishing, hunting and his family.
Jack is survived by his wife, Florence; daughter Cindy (Rick) Harrat; two sons John (Brenda) and David (Gina) Luby; grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Leenora (Mark) Probst and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Predeceased by sister Rita Luby and brother Vincent Luby.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Mon., Feb 19th from 4-7pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY, Tues., Feb 20th, family will meet at 10am New Comer for a procession to Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY for 11am Graveside.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Community Hospice at St Peter's Hospital, 310 S. Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208.
