John M. Kwiatkowski, 83, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2011 at Albany Memorial Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Schenectady to the late Maryon and Helen (Latkowski) Kwiatkowski. John served his country in the United States Army. He was a talented tile setter by trade who loved his Polish traditions and was well known for his perogies and polish bread. He loved to garden, cook, eat and play cards, but his favorite pass time was spending time with his family and being "Papa to his cherished grandchildren. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Annie. John leaves behind his children, Diane, John and Lisa; his cherished grandchildren Matthew and Anna; his loving sister Marion Bauer and his sister-in-law, Mary "Midge" Bandoff. Also surviving is his faithful canine companion, "Rascal." John was a man of few words who left no doubt about his thoughts. He had a gentle heart and was a proud, honest hardworking man dedicated to his family. His pride and joy was being "Papa" to Anna Elizabeth and Matthew Francis Riley.
The family wished to extend special thanks to the staff of the memorial hospital 6th floor whose kindness to john and his family will never be forgotten. Appreciation is also extended to his "his girls" at CVS and key bank for all their TLC, as well as Dr. Garbo and NYOH.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Pius X Church, Loudonville at 9:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albany. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Upstate New York/Vermont Chapter, 5 Computer Drive West, Suite 100, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of John M. Kwiatkowski.
