Clifton Park- John M. Nevins, 54, passed away at the Stratton V.A. Medical Center on Thursday, January 26, 2006 after a short illness.
Born in Queens, NY he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Nevins. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving his country during Vietnam. In the past he had worked for State Photo and Albany Dodge, but most recently he was employed by S.U.N.Y. Administration in downtown Albany as a Security Officer. John was an avid artist who enjoyed painting and photography. He is predeceased by his sister Catherine Costello.
Survivors include his beloved daughter Amy Nevins-Bevins and her husband Nicholas, his former wife Judy Nevins of Glenmont, five brothers and sisters, Bernadette Rivenburgh and husband Richard of Latham, Thomas Nevins, Jr. of Oakdale, CA, Robert Nevins and wife Andrea of Saratoga Springs, Daniel Nevins of Clifton Park, James Nevins and wife Susan of Guilderland and 14 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Albany where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of John M. Nevins.
