John J. Marshall
July 15, 1943 — January 30, 2019
Guilderland - John J. Marshall, 75, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019 with his loving wife by his side. John was the son of the late Della Slingerland, and was the devoted husband to Donna (Kirtley) Marshall.
John was an electrician by trade, but a master carpenter at home. He enjoyed metal detecting, feeding and watching birds, and planting his vegetable garden. Also, being an animal lover, he took the time to rescue many cats.
John is survived by his brother, William Slingerland; and many loving relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his sisters: Jeannette and Marion; brothers: Raymond and Harold.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, on Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 4:00 pm. Interment will be on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Central Avenue, Colonie at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in John's memory to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, NY 12204 or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
