COLONIE – John M. Meliski, 73, of Colonie, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2005 surrounded by his loving family, at the Teresian House after a long illness. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Anthony Meliski and Anna Schofield. Mr. Meliski was a resident of Loudonville for 45 years. John was the owner and President of Home Beautifiers, Inc., a family run business for 45 successful years. He was a communicant of St. Pius X Church in Loudonville were he served in pastoral care and as a Eucharistic minister. He was a member of the Colonie Elks Lodge #2192 and the Knights of Columbus Troy Council. Mr. Meliski enjoyed listening to all kinds of music. He was a kind, compassionate and generous man who was extremely devoted to his family. John is the beloved husband of 52 years to Rosemary Quickenton Meliski. He is the devoted father of Richard Meliski and his wife, Colleen of Wilton, Linda Teller and her husband, William of Glenville, Cindy Durfey and her husband, Douglas of Saratoga Springs, Diane Eads and her husband, Cleve of Clifton Park and Susan Peek and her husband, Brian of Niskayuna. He is the cherished grandfather of John, Angela, Adam and Josh Meliski, Jaime Peck and her husband, Josh, Christopher Cornell, Jeremy Durfey and his wife, Shaynon, Danielle Durfey, Krista and Jenna Robertson and Nicole, Courtney, Joseph and Brianna Peek. He is the great-grandfather of Seth Durfey and Riley Peck. Also surviving is John's loving sister, Pat Divinsky of Loudonville.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning at 9:15 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Pius X Church, Loudonville at 10:00 a.m. where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY 12211 in memory of John M. Meliski.
