Schenectady-
John Milsop, 72, passed away peacefully April 19, 202. Born and raised in Springfield Ma. he is the son of the late Esau and Ruth (Graves) Milsop .
Shortly after graduating High school in 1966, he enlisted in the Army and started a career which included Active duty, NY Army National Guard, and Army Reserve Service for a total of 34 years. He served in the Vietnam War, (67-68) and the Persian Gulf War. In 2004, leaving active duty he worked for the department of the Army as a Military Technician, supporting various NG and Army reserve units training and preparing these units for subsequent deployments in support of the Persian Gulf War.
Not sitting still in retirement he worked 2 years with NYS Dept. of Tax and Finance where he was a courier.
John was a proud member of the Ballston Spa VFW Post 385, American, Legion post 1520, Albany NY. Wadsworth Masonic Lodge 417 Albany New York, Cypress Shrine Temple, Albany New York.
His favorite hobbies were hunting pheasants with his best buddy Molly; his hunting dog and playing the harness horses in the evening. When he wasn't hunting, he was spending as much time as possible with the love of his life. What he most wanted to be remembered for, he loved his country.
In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by his siblings, Joan, Roger and Edward, all of Massachusetts.
He is survived by, the love of his life Halida Milsop, children, Christine Hite of Schenectady, Morgan Milsop and Casey Milsop of Saratoga NY, and Michael Milsop of Pennsylvania( PA), and grandsons Josh and Jacob Hite of Schenectady.
A visitation will be held on Monday April 26 from 5:00pm-7:00pm, with a funeral service to follow on Tuesday at 10:30 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie NY 12205.
