Albany-
John Paul Moran, 90, was called home on December 2, from St Peter's Hospice after a brief illness.
John was born in Albany, NY. He joined the United States Navy in 1948, proudly serving until 1953 during the Korean War.
When returning from active duty, he worked at The Albany Public Market, where he met his beautiful wife of 64 years. In 1959, He joined the Albany Fire Department.
In addition he was a well respected antique dealer and collector for many years and a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign War post #8692.
John is predeceased by his mother, Ethel Skiff, and his siblings John R. Moran and Betty George, and his many fur babies, Charlie, Sam, Banchie, Dallas, Katana, and Waffles.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia, his two daughters, Judy and Susan Moran (John Crossman), 3 grandchildren, Jesse Moran (Nancy Moran), Alycia Byrne (Omar Coleman) and Nicole Byrne, 4 great-grandchildren, Caesar, Salma, Hunter and Logan, his 2 brother-in-laws Frederick and George Savoie, and his many nieces and nephews.
He is fondly remembered by his siblings Marilyn Morrow, Earl and Jack Skiff.
John enjoyed reading historical & political books, collecting rare antiquities, playing bingo, gardening, traveling, and feeding his sweet tooth, most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially over evening cookies & ice cream and many evenings relaxing on the front porch along side his wife.
John lived a life full of love, laughter, and selflessness. He was a family man and a devoted husband. He consistently shared his positive personality, wisdom, and stories of lessons learned. He advocated for the importance of education to all. He had such a charming and fun personality that can come into your life for a short time but, leave such a lasting impression.
A visitation will be held on Sunday December 6, 2020 from 2pm-4pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals at 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, NY 12205.
The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius x Church, 23 Crumitie Rd, Loudonville, NY 12211 on Monday December 7th at 9am, burial to follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, 48 Cemetery Ave., Albany, NY 12204.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice Inn, 315 S. Manning Blvd, Albany NY 12208.
Social distance practices will be in effect and chapel size will be limited to current NYS guidelines, masks are required in the building.
