Colonie - John Kenneth Morin, 89, of Colonie New York, passed away on February 23, 2023 after a brief illness.
John was born in Albany, NY to Justin Baptiste Morin and Harriette Alice (Fortin) Morin on May 15, 1933. He grew up in Albany, NY where he attended Albany Public Schools prior to serving for four years (1951-1955) with the United States Navy. He achieved the rank of Seaman First Class before leaving the service. John then joined the Carpenter's Union - Local 291 and worked as a union carpenter, continuing to support the union for nearly 64 years.
John was a devoted husband to Mary (DiDomenico) Morin, as well as a father to Mark and Sharon (Murphy) Morin and Brian and Michelle (Gainor) Morin. He was a grandfather to Kayleigh Morin, Justin and Allison (LaGalles) Morin, Matthew and Jennifer (DuPont) Morin, Shawn Morin, Jason Gainor and Elizabeth Gainor. Great-Grandfather to Levi, Oliver and Lincoln Morin, with two additional Great-Grandson's due in June and August of 2023. John was the brother of Richard "Butch" & Luba (Berezansky) Morin. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, William & Lee (Fondry) Morin, Jean (Morin) & Charles Calderone. He was also the uncle to many nieces and nephews.
John was an avid sportsman. He was a golfer, a bowler and an archer. He enjoyed his annual trips to Myrtle Beach to golf and enjoyed the companionship of family and friends while visiting there for years.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Cancer Research Institute (CRI), or the LIVESTRONG Foundation. In both cases, over 80% of the donations received go directly to programs and services for those affected by cancer.
