COLONIE, NY – John H. "Jack" Murphy, II, 85, of Colonie, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2007. Born in Hudson Falls, he was the son of the late John H. and Florence Measeck Murphy. Jack was a U.S. Navy veteran serving his country during World War II. Mr. Murphy worked in construction for over 40 years with the Bricklayers Local #2 in Albany. He enjoyed woodworking, baking bread, bowling and golfing with his buddies. Jack was the beloved husband of the late Helen Vita Murphy. He is the devoted father of Joan Murphy of Colonie, Janice (Tom) Hunter of Troy and the late John H. (Bud) Murphy. He is the brother of Carol Clark of Hudson Falls. Jack is the cherished grandfather of Joseph (Gina), Thomas (Amy), Brian (Keri), Kevin, Timothy and Tricia Hunter and John H. (Christine) Murphy, IV and Christa (Kevin) Flaherty. He is the loving great-grandfather of Zoe, Joey, Samantha, Ellyana and Zachary. Also surviving is his daughter-in-law, Colleen Murphy of Troy and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 12:00 noon at St. Francis de Sales Church on Exchange Street. Calling hours will precede the Mass from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of John H. Murphy, II.
