John Norton Iii

Colonie – John Charles Norton III, 57, died on Friday, March 14, 2014 at his residence after complications from a chronic illness. He was born on August 6, 1956 in Albany, to the late Margaret (Joyce) Norton and John Charles Norton, Jr.

John grew up in Westmere where he attended Christ the King School and Guilderland Middle and High Schools. After graduation, he was employed by Intermagnetics-Phillips Corporation for 38 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed vacationing in the Caribbean Islands and Mexico.

John was predeceased by his brother, Edward Norton and brother-in-law Robert Lynde.

John is survived by his sisters; Susan Lynde of Nassau, Barbara Norton of Westmere and Margaret Melander of Ballston Spa, special nieces and nephews; Sarah (Tim) Swaisgood of Ashland, Ohio, Chad (Angie) Randall Ahr Jr. of Colonie, Kelly (Andre) Lescault of Corinth and Patrick Lynde of Nassau. He was also the great-uncle of; Jack Swaisgood, Max Swaisgood, Claire Swaisgood, Chelsea Lescault, and Grace Ahr.

The family would like to sincerely thank the Colonie Police for their kindness and guidance during a very stressful life event.

Calling hours for John will be Monday March 24th from 4-7 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Interment will be private to the family.
