John O. Blakemore, 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 03, 2010 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peters, surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born on February, 15, 1912 in Minsterly, England to the late Sydney and Kitty Blakemore. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 12, and later worked for General Electric, Schenectady, for the large steam turbine division until his retirement in 1974. Jack enjoyed fishing in Florida, playing the piano/organ, spending time with his family and had a lasting devotion to his faith and the members of his faith. In addition to his parents Jack was predeceased by his loving wife, Emma (Muller) Blakemore in 1995 and his son John O. Blakemore, Jr. in 2010.
Jack is survived by his beloved children; Richard (Nancy) of NH and Lawrence (Cynthia), Edward (Audrey) all of NY. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Cathy of LA; his grandchildren; Mark (Sara), Craig (Amanda), Lance (Gina), Michelle (Alex), Todd (Cate), Nathan (Megan), Christina (Greg), Megan (David), Johnathan, Jason (Monica), Becky and Stephen (Lee Ann). He is also survived by twenty one great-grand children.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Hospice Inn at St. Peters for all of their exceptional care.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 12 to 1 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Memory Gardens, Colonie. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany NY 12205 or to the Washington County office for the aging and nutrition services, "Meals on Wheels" 411 Lower Main Street, Hudson Falls, NY 12839-2661.
