Menands - John J. O'Brien, 92, died on December 23, 2016. Born in Troy, NY, he was the son of Timothy F. O'Brien and Katherine M. McCarthy. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1940, and while a student at Siena College, Loudonville, his studies were interrupted by military service in 1943. During World War II he served as a Navy pilot in the Pacific Theatre, and was honorably discharged in 1946, whereupon he entered Albany Law School, graduating in 1948. John served as Clerk of the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court, Third Department. For many years he engaged in pro-life activities.
John was predeceased by his wife, Anne Marie Weber, his wife, Bertha A. Manion, his daughter Erin Anne O'Brien, sister Alice and brothers William, Timothy and Robert O'Brien and stepson Timothy Manion. He is survived by his son, Neil O'Brien, brother Tom O'Brien of New Canaan, CT, stepdaughters Patricia Dwyer of Guilderland, Kathy Campbell of Brunswick, Mary Beth Manion of Warwick, RI and nine step-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on January 6, 2017 at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 at 10:00 am.
