John Henry Ortgies, Sr.

GUILDERLAND - John Henry Ortgies, Sr. age 65, passed away on August 28,2024 at his residence.

He was born in Schenectady, the son of John Herman Ortgies and Frances Girardot Ortgies. John graduated from Mohonasen High School in ‘77 and left for Navy boot camp in January of ‘77 enlisting in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged as a Master Cheif in 1999. Completing a career of life long Honor, Courage and Commitment with dedication, pride, and selflessness.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathleen Jane Wieland Ortgies, Children; John Henry Ortgies Jr, (Christina), Jeanette Dawn Stedman (Justin), Andy Register (Marie); Grandchildren Rory, Colbie, Rosalie, Charlotte, Collins and Blair; Sisters; Diane Tomaro (Anthony) and Karen Ortgies; Sister and Brother in laws Rosemary Williams (Howard) Tina Beauparlant (Ronald).

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Wednesday September 4, 2024 from 10:00 am. to 12:00 noon at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. All are invited to attend his funeral service at the funeral home following at 12 Noon. Interment with full military honors will follow at 2:30pm at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
