COLONIE- John J. Pinkans, 81, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017 surrounded by the love of his family.
John was born in Rezekne, Latvia, on September 5, 1936 to the late Dr. Joseph Pinkans and Dr. Janina Pinkans. John served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. In 1959 John married the love of his life, Patricia. They were married for 58 years and together they raised five children. John worked for 32 years at NYS Dept. of Transportation as a Civil Engineer designing bridges.
John is predeceased by his brother, Bernard Pinkans, and his sister, Aldona Hart.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia, his children, Mary (Brian) Burt, Linda Pinkans, Paul (Cheri) Pinkans, Carol Pinkans, and Ann (Timothy) Paro, his grandchildren, Zachary, Alexandria, Julianna, Mallory, Sophia, and Ethan, his godchildren, Susan Davis, and Michael Pinkans, and his nephews, Joseph Pinkans, and Raymond Hart, and a host of family and friends.
Calling hours will be held at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Dr, Loudonville, NY 12211, on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 10:00am-11:00am. A mass of Christian burial will immediately follow. Burial will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie, NY.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in John's name to the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's, 310 South Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208.
