ROTTERDAM – John R. Humphrey, Jr., 88, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2010 at Glendale Nursing Home.
John was born on March 8, 1922 in Spartanburg, SC and was the son of the late John R. and Lena (Greene) Humphrey. He served in the US Army in the 82 Airborne during WWII. He was a construction laborer in the local area for various companies. He was an avid fisherman and was a fan of NASCAR.
John is the husband of Shirley L. (Melick) Humphrey; father of John, Helen Grigson, Joseph G. (Marietta), Debra L. Lewis, Sandra J., Michael J. (Judith), Aletta S. Karlau (William) and the late Robert A.; 15 grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie.
