Albany – John E. Rider, Sr., 70, died Thursday June 12, 2008 at his home in Albany.
John was born in Albany the son of the late Anne P. and Thomas A. Rider, Sr. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving from 1955 to 1958. John worked for Morgan Linen service where he started with a delivery route and at the time of his retirement, had worked his way up to a supervisor. He was an avid card player and a member of the Joseph E. Zaloga Post #1520, whom he was famous for selling the annual poppies for.
John is survived by his children; John E. Rider, Jr., Pamela Rider and Christopher Rider, grandsons; Joseph and Shane Rider, sister Patricia (Carmen) Pestuglucci and brother Richard Rider. He is also survived by his nieces; Mary Beth Rider, Kelly Barker, Wendy DeCrescenzio and Robin Farrell and several other family members. John was predeceased by his brothers; Thomas Rider, Jr. and Robert Rider.
The funeral service will be held 10:00am Monday at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.).
