John F. Rock Jr. (Rocky), 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Albany Stratton V.A Medical Center in Albany, NY.
The son of the late John and Rosemary (McGrath) Rock Sr., John was born on June 29, 1947 in Yonkers, NY. John was an Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. Upon leaving the Army, John began a fulfilling career in the automotive sales industry. In his free time, John enjoyed camping and fishing, as well as diving into the latest games and technology. John was also an avid animal lover, spending many of his days with his beloved cat, Sophie.
John is survived by his daughter, Kimberly (Frank) Rock-Lincourt; his brother, Kenneth (Anne) Rock; his grandchildren, William Moak Jr., Aarika Moak, Kierstyn Lavare and Kaitlyn Lavare; his great-grandchild, Haylee Moak, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by his wife, Carol (Champagne) Rock; as well as his siblings, Douglass, David and Barbara Rock.
A short memorial ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 10:30am at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204.
John will be deeply missed by both friends and family. His family would like to give special thanks to John’s care team at the V.A Medical Center; thank you for the excellent care you all provided to him.
